Altering the file without my consent is illegal. And I do not remember giving it.
Okay, so your saying that everything that is in your file is yours. Absolutly everything. So you have the rights from Kishimoto to use HIS idea to formulate your own. You had every right to use the skills, abilities, so on and so fourth affiliated with Naruto. That are more than likley copy-writed.

And if I'm correct this Naruto D20 IS NOT copy-writed so you can't chew his ass out to make it a smaller file. Shocked

Also, "don't shovel more shit than you can eat." ...
do you mean "Don't bite off more than you can chew"? Question

As soon as you make something, it is automatically copywritten to your name. Frankto can not trademark this without Kishimoto's permission, but he can send it online as much as he wants, since he is not making profit.

If Kishimoto wanted, he could probably get away with suing Frankto, because money made is not considered in court rulings, only who produced the original material. But, Kishimoto has probably never seen this site and probably never will.

Also, free speech is not allowed on these forums. So enjoy your ban for questioning Frankto.

SO antarx is still in the right here. as you just said, when you make it, its automaticly copyrited to your name. AND he can post it on the internet without reprucussions. SO his 350 or so edit to make this gargantuan book smaller. IS okay by what YOU JUST SAID funny man. Cool

Copyrights are updated when the material is republished.

And no, when you reduce the file to a smaller size and then posted that just won't fly.

You see, Frankto's file is based on the naruto manga/anime. It is not a ripoff, he does not pretend to own the rights to anything directly related to the anime.

However, a smaller version of the same file is, in essence, a breach of copyright because you *copied* the information in the file exactly. Sure, you may have deleted a few things that may seem irrelevant (aka fluff), but that does not change the fact that you're copying the original file's content.

Since he dosn't technicaly have a patent on this file, he made it open to the public. So he has evrey right to edit the file all he wants. And if I remember he used to have a $1 fee to get the nd20 printable version of this game. Well.... something about that seems odd then because he would need the rights from Wizards and kishimoto to actually have the rights to sell it. selling this without the rights themselves is illegal. So as I am reading in this thread, you guys have shown me NO reason to say that Frankto has all rights to say that it is ILLEGAL to edit his work that is FREE to the public.

Also, when you said that it is based on it, and not a ripoff, you seem to have contridicted yourself there. Because either way you slice that, he still needs the legal consent of Wizards for the d20 concept, and the permission to use anything related to Kishimotos. Because lets renember here that HE did sell this item at one point.

I can't believe this thread is still alive!!

May be I don't must write here again, but in fact, no one (at least, not me) was discussing Frankto rights about his book... or at least, moral rights... I'm not a lawyer, so, even if I have my own thoughts about that matter, I wasn't putting them in question.

I did something for me, and I thought I could be interesting for the site admin. It was not. End of the story.

I left the site, because I didn't want to start any sort of war, simply, because it was pointless. I admire Frankto work, but I cant agree with his decisions. I didn't came here to start a war, so, when I realized that, I left.

Dustcloak, I'm not sure about your intentions, but if you really are interested in naruto d20, may be you must start another thread about legal things... but this thread is only a pain, and reopening it only will cause to open closed wounds.

I have three words: Open Game License.

It allowed anything from the SRDs to be used without being considered copywriting infringement. 4.0 is different but 3.x is still in the same place. so...fail.

For one, I sold no items. For two, I'm locking this thread because it's annoying, because it pisses me off, and because it's fucking annoying. For three, keep it up and it WILL die.
