Purchase DC question for Weapons/Armour with Enhancement Sea

Greetings,

This is surely a stupid question, however no amount of trawling through the main file and the forums is giving me anything concrete.

When creating items, how do you work out the final Purchase DC? Is it just by adding the total Purchase DC's together, or is it something more complex?

The method I've been using is adding treating the item and seals as separate values, then converting to ryo, adding together and taking the new value converting back to a Purchase DC.

Looking forward to your help with this one guys.

You buy each seal and seal slot separately. Failing that, if you want to make it into one roll, you add the respective value of all the seals together and refer to the table to find the new purchase DC. Keep in mind that every 2 points is a doubling, and that might throw off the balance of your game quite significantly -- having to make two wealth checks at DC 40 is very different than one at DC 43.

Hi Frankto,

So I'd treat the weapon and mastercraft bonus (if any) as one item, and then the seal slots and enhancement seals as separate things?

Then would I convert to ryo to get one value and convert back?

Hate to be a pain but could you provide an example?

Two ways you can do it. Say the base DC is 15 and you want a mastercraft +3 weapon, with 2 minor seal slots (DC 8) and 2 minor seals, which you're buying (at +2 per category).

Method #1: Vanilla. You would make 5 checks:
- +3 weapon (DC 24)
- Seal slot (DC 8)
- Seal slot (DC 8)
- Seal 1 - Flame Burst (DC 15)
- Seal 2 - Returning (DC 15)

Method 2: Fewer rolls, but higher complexity. You would make 1 check.
- Add the values of all the Purchase DCs per Chapter 17, Page 1: 64000+700+700+5000+5000
- Refer to the table for the appropriate purchase DC. 75,400 ryo is between 65,000 and 90,000.
- Make one Wealth check at a Purchase DC 25.

So you can see how one is easier on the players than the other, and may or may not impact the belence of your game.

There's been cases where I have used one over the other but never been sure which is correct - at least now I know it can be either or.
