Should I raise the Intelligence score of summons to humanlike levels?
New poll, forum people. The names Elite and Avatar are changing, as are the Sire and Broodlord titles.
Elite becomes Noble
Avatar becomes ??? (vote in the poll!)
Sire becomes Elite
Broodlord becomes Paragon
New poll!

I voted for it. The only summon that came across as slow to me was Gamatatsu, Gamabunta's other son if I spelled his name wrong or am mistaken entirely. Also it seems they are intelligent enough to form and regulate thier own societies. Not to mention 1 skill point every other Hit Die is tough to work with. |

Yeah, while summons haven't gotten the best exposure, so far all of the ones that have had speaking lines are of human level intelligence...Gamatatsu(or whatever his name is) is indeed of human level intelligence, just a really stupid human's level of intelligence. |

I think Elites and Avatars should have a higher intelligence, at least on human level or much more. |

Mm...actually, that does bring up another point...for the most part, all of the summons we've seen that have shown intelligence, were sires or broodlords...being unique summons such as: Pakkun, Gamabunta, Manda, Katsuya etc...
So maybe generic ones have lower human intelligence, but aside from extra skill points, maybe just give sires and broodlords higher intelligence scores? |

Easy answer: No. I increased every summon's intelligence score. Otherwise it's just a clusterfuck to manage it all. _________________ "It's like making a cake, but instead of a cake it's a game and instead of frosting I have no life."

There are a lot of animal intellegence generic summon.
I think there should just be a summon feat that ups it to that level or be only for sires/broodlords.
Or adapt nin animal. |

You said Elites become Heroes but Hero is also an option in the poll for the avatar's new title. Just thought I'd be the first to point out the obvious. If Hero wins out will you make Elites the runner up or just come up with an entirely new title? |

Eh, Hero makes it sound like the summon is unique.
I say go for champion, as a 'champion' is typically portrayed as a powerful representative of an organization or force, not necessarily an iconic figure. |

That's good in theory, except that Champion is too long for the tables. And I do NOT want to have to edit that. _________________ "It's like making a cake, but instead of a cake it's a game and instead of frosting I have no life."

Hero works I suppose... |

I agree. I voted for Champion, but General would be my second choice. _________________ ZeronosVega's Creation Index |

Ah, in that case, I suppose General would be fine then. It's only slightly longer than avatar. |

Actually, General fits in better with the seemingly established military ranking theme.
Soldier
Protector
Guardian (Slightly similar to Protector in terms of meaning)
Noble
General
Elite
Paragon _________________ ZeronosVega's Creation Index |

Well, this looks like it's going to be champion. FML. _________________ "It's like making a cake, but instead of a cake it's a game and instead of frosting I have no life."

As SS said, if it is easier to do, go with General. _________________ ZeronosVega's Creation Index |

There is a new category of items called totems, which can be used to empower a summoning (one per summoning). Should I go the extra mile and add a new totem for each blood pact? _________________ "It's like making a cake, but instead of a cake it's a game and instead of frosting I have no life."

I don't see the need unless they do a specific and unique thing for each pact. |

If totems existed for each pact, then naturally they'd have different effects. The real question is: Are they necessary, or would it provide excessive clutter?
Personally, I believe enough variation exists within summons and feats, etc. that additional totems (beyond what is already planned) won't be truly needed. _________________ Be careful when you follow the masses, because sometimes the 'm' is silent. |

Eh, I don't think so. Are they one-use items? |

They are not one time use and they have unique effects for each blood pact, obviously. _________________ "It's like making a cake, but instead of a cake it's a game and instead of frosting I have no life."

Honestly, I don't have a problem with the idea. I see totems as being potentially useful for those who can summon, but don't have the chakra to summon the more-powerful summons. So long as they can be useful to someone, I have no problem with their inclusion. _________________ ZeronosVega's Creation Index |
