This game may not be starting for a short while, but I’d like to post this just to see if there is any interest.

What was once a shining beacon of humanity, has now fallen into disrepair. The neon lights that once glowed in the shade of the caverns have begun to fade, and food has become harder to eak out of the earth. The massive stores of raw materials and tools have begun to run short.
But hope is still high. The monks and priestesses that tend the shrines and temples continue their prayers and liturgies. Your faith preserves you, and tradition continues to give the people a purpose.
You are the next generation. The world is going through changes. The stars are moving in the heavens. Your elders have put their fate in your hands, in time, all reality will. |
This game will take place in a completely homebrew universe. While there are still elements of the Naruto universe present, there are also high fantasy and steampunk influences added (think Princess Mononoke). I am looking for 4 or 5 players.
Where/when:
The game will take place on Thursday afternoons/evenings. The starting time will be determined based on player availability, but the game will take place on Thursdays. It is the only available time.
We will use IRC chat for the game on the Otherworlders Server. I’ll decide on the channel name when we are closer to the start date.
For your submissions, I want your character concepts and an idea of your level progression. Your character decisions will determine the major clans in the village as well as some other factors. The game will start in an isolated village in the mountains:
The Village Hidden Under the Mountain
| Quote: | Surrounded on all sides by impenetrable, mist-filled forests, the village is an insular self-sufficient community. Though they have tried hard, it has been difficult keeping the shinobi tradition alive, and some skills have been lost.
Still, each year chakra-capable individuals are brought together to begin training under the village’s best. Shrine maidens and monks maintain the holy structures, spiderant broods, and mushroom farms in the deeper caverns. Others join the field to farm, while those more technical-minded individuals do their best to maintain the city’s failing electrical system.
The majority of the Village is a subterranean city in the caverns of the massive Mount Arreat. The roots of the massive world tree at its peak, Yggdrasil, wind their way through much of the city. |
Player Creation specifics:- 40-point buy
- Estimated Character Level 3 (Max +2 LA)
- Any Bloodline or Template may be used or denied at my discretion
- Characters may choose one Shinobi Archetype
- Characters gain full hit points for their HD at first level and roll each level after (min half)
- Characters gain 1 feat every odd-level rather than every 3 levels
- Starting techniques (if any) will be determined through roleplay
- Skills will be changed as follows:
Many Skills will be combined into one. | Code: | Acrobatics = Balance + Tumble
Athletics = Climb + Jump + Swim
Awareness = Listen + Spot
Persuasion = Bluff + Diplomacy
Research = Investigate + Research
Stealth = Hide + Move Silently + Sleight of Hand
Survival = Navigation + Survival |
Repair no longer exists; the relevant Craft skills serve those functions.
Intimidate’s relevant ability can be either Str or Cha, whichever has the highest modifier.
Athletic’s relevant ability can be either Str or Dex, whichever has the highest modifier.
If your class has one skill in the combination, it has what that combination gives you. For instance, if a class has Hide but not Move Silently or Sleight of Hand, Stealth is still a class skill.
If an item or ability gives you a bonus to a certain skill, it only gives you a bonus to the combination for that specific purpose. If I had an ability that gave me a +5 bonus to jump, I would receive a +5 bonus to Athletics ONLY when using it to jump.

Probably going to go with Mechanic, and then branch out into Puppeteer/Living Puppeteer and Shade if that's cool with you. I was thinking of being one of the few tasked with keeping the lights on and who reads up on the Shinobi histories in his spare time.

I'm really liking the Technology doc and the Engineer and Tinker classes. I'm looking it over now and it's already given me some ideas. I think I'll go with the Mechanic Archetype and branch into puppeteer and engineer/tinker classes.

Well, the problem is that once I'm on my regular shift, I might be working as late as 10:30 on Thursdays. Saturdays are much more manageable for me and you said it wasn't an issue :P
It's only every other saturday. |
