Indeed, the only japanese words for hydra are:

Hidora
Hyudora
Haidora

For Shower of Blades I'd personally prefer Kenkyuu (blade shower), since it has a nicer ring to it. Ken no Hakuu is correct, though.

kami no higure (this means something like sunset of the gods, there is no twilight as in "end" Razz, you could interpret it as the end of the day Razz)

child/children of the moon
gejisou (meaning children here as descendants, could even mean grandchildren Razz)

Hydra is quite a problem, as it is european folklore.

use something like hidora Razz

so you probably want to use the other "engrish" words too for the thousand headed hydra, imho DO NOT TRANSLATE IT.

shower of blades something like...
ken no hakuu

Thanks, also anyone know a Japanese translation for either flip or Power flip

I've got a quest for you people.

How would you translate the term Trueblade to japanese? And if there's any of you with some spanish knowledge, how would you adapt it to spanish? Yeah, I'm spanish but I can't find a good term for it's translation. Well, not something as cool and representative as trueblade.

Jiken could be a word for Trueblade (well, technically true blade).

Shinken or Maken could be other ones.

Unfortunately, I think you'd be better with spanish than most of us here so that's left up to you.

Espada Cierto would be True Sword in Spanish.
Espada Verdad would be Truth Sword

Sorry, I'm not sure what blade is though.

But you probably won't find a translation you like because it's just cooler sounding when you don't know what it means. Translate half the Zanpakuto in Bleach or the Techniques in Naruto, and they sound really dumb (Spiral Sphere instead of Rasengan for example.)

Yeah, it's f****n sad. Trueblade and Jiken sound awesome, but 'Veraespada' or 'Verafilo' (best adaptations I've come to) doesn't sound as cool as Trueblade sounds for a spanish. At least, for me and my group. Well, I'll see what I do. Thanks people.

Verafilo sounds fine to me. Like I said, it's just because it's your native language. It's going to sound dumber.

That's because english is one of the coolest languages around Razz

I think latin is better for making names for games. Or Tolkienian.

I can't find a straight answer for you. It's the official name of a sword given to an emperor or empress at some point, so it's unlikely any dictionary meanings you can find will reflect the proper, intended name...

Ouch, yeah this is a hard one. My best is:

The Honorable Long Sword of the Necessarily Joyous Advantage

That's a pretty literal and gross sounding translation though. I'm definite about the honorable long sword part (ontachi), but all the other kanji (su,ga, and ri) are never really used together. So the translation might be more than a little off. Instead, I just had to mash them up, word for word. Someone else could probably make it sound more elegant.

Hope that helps.

When i first saw the word it took me a while to find at least some of what it might mean and i thought i should get a second opinion. But thanks for trying.

I advise you that glass is a western term and so it is translated directly...

Goran Gurasukyou

whereby Gurasu is Glass... Razz hf

The word you're looking for is Kagami.

かがみ or 鏡

A looking glass is a mirror.

If you mean a spyglass mirror, then what you're looking for is a telescope, or Bouenkyou.

のうえんきょう or 望遠鏡

Well i was actually trying to get at a sociology term "Looking Glass Self" but replaced it as "Looking Glass Mirror". But now that i think of it does anyone know what "Looking Glass Self" would be translated as?

Thanks for trying, didn't really think glass was a western thing, but you learn something everyday.

Edit: I tried translating "Looking-Glass Self" and got 3 different answers:

ガラスの自己探し (Looking Glass Self)

アリスの自己 (Alice?s Self)

ているガラスの自己 (Glass is self)

I think i might like the second one but it still seems off and i can't translate from kanji into the romanji or whatever the roman alphabet is (i don't really remember).

There is no translation, as "Vorpal" is not a word. Not a real one anyway. It's something that Lewis Carroll made up, and people like Gygax took to be awesome sounding. D&D is famous for making up words that don't really exist and attempting to convince you they are truly horrifying things.

Vorpal strike could, supposedly, be accurately translated by naming it "Decapitation Strike".

Decapitation => Funkei, Uchikubi, Zan/Zanshu.

You could also name it Zanzai no Jutsu or Kishi no Jutsu, which roughly mean "Execution by beheading technique". (Except Kishi usually means that after the execution, the body is put up for display...)

Kubikiri is the closest you'll find to decapitation.

Vorpal is actually a word mind you, it means deadly, I will most likely go with Uchikubi, thank you. Also the location where I found that Vorpal is a word is dictionary.com, it's a word in the english language, just incredibly rare in any other Jensik, but I don't care.

The word did not exist before Lewis Carroll came along. It was never used in speech until Gygax and Anerson put it in DnD.

Could I get a translation for "Old Man Mountain"? (as in a mountain that is aged and masculine, not a pile of grandpas) Please and thank you.

Old Man:

Jii - old man
Okina, Ou - Old Man; Venerable

Mountain:

Fuji, Yama - Mountain
Kouzan - High Mountain, Alpine
Kouhou - High Mountain, Lofty Peak
Mitake - Large, High Mountain
Take - Peak, Mountain

Most used for mountain is, of course, the word Yama.

So, Jiiyama or Ouyama would perhaps be a decent translation. But you could presumably mix and match a bit...
